Dear Family,
Your child has the opportunity to improve his/her reading skills in the Intervention Group s/he is a part of with me. This group is learning from a curriculum called SIPPS (Systematic Instruction in Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Sight Words). The focus in this curriculum is on the Phonics part of reading where students break a word into Phonemes (smallest sound parts) and blend together to read the decodable word. Some words are sight words that are not decodable. These words must be learned in a very specific way to help students remember them. The skills your child is learning are very important in helping your child’s reading improve. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to the time I will have with your child.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Michelle Nab
